The results are in! After the wild ride full of rigorous competition that was season seven of MasterChef Canada, a winner has finally been crowned. Christopher Siu, from right here in the GTA, was named the champion in last night’s iconic season finale. This culinary star is making our city proud!

Of course, Christopher’s MasterChef Canada journey began five years ago when the Markham baker appeared in season two of the series. He finished in 5th place at the time, before returning for this season’s Back to Win edition of the series. His competition was fierce, having entered last night’s finale facing off against two powerhouse contestants – Andy Hay from Dartmouth, N.S. and Thea VanHerwaarden from Vancouver, B.C., but ultimately Christopher Siu pulled through.

Before Christopher Siu became the MasterChef Canada winner and overall icon he is today, he actually worked as a pharmacist. He earned his Pharm.D. from the University of Toronto in 2015 and was employed at a local Shoppers Drug Mart for a number of years. After his stint on MasterChef Canada in season two, he opened up the popular Toronto bakery Daan Go Cake.

With multiple locations across the GTA, including Scarborough, Kensington Market, and a new spot opening soon to Richmond Hill, Daan Go Cake is known for their adorable baked goods and desserts. They combine East Asian and Wester flavours to create unique (and adorable) treats. We’re sure last night’s major win will draw in even more crowds than the spot is pulling already!
