Now that the weather is warm and the world is reopening, is anyone else feeling like they’d like to get back in shape? After months on end of hiding inside, we may have become a little to one-with-our-couch, if you catch our drift. So, we’re taking up running this summer; and we’re doing so by exploring all the best places to run in the city. From parks to pathways, these spots are sure to bring a little fun to your outdoor exercise routine.

Here are 10 of the best place to go for a run in Toronto.

TOMMY THOMPSON PARK

Run along the waterfront and encounter tons of wildlife along the way. Tommy Thompson Park provides a great trail for getting out and getting active, but its primary function is as an urban wilderness conservation area. The place is home to over 300 recorded species of birds and tons of other furry friends.

TRILLIUM PARK

Still on the waterfront, but at the western end of the city this time, you’ll find the gorgeous sprawling paths of Trillium Park. This outdoor destination is great for providing views of the city skyline, tons of hills to make you sweat, and loads of great greenery to admire.

BELTLINE TRAIL

This massive trail covers a whopping 8 miles of the city. Don’t worry, you don’t have the run the whole thing at once. If you are feeling motivated, you can start this race at Evergreen Brickworks and make your way all the way up to York. Along the way, you’ll get to enjoy beautiful views of surrounding nature.

MARTIN GOODMAN TRAIL

If you like the lakeshore, this trail is for you. Run along the water as you travel from the Humber Bridge all the way to the Eastern Beaches. This amazing path traces out the entire southern edge of the city. Don’t feel up to the entire 22km trek? We don’t blame you! Good thing there are multiple access points to hop on and off along the way.

SUNNYBROOK PARK

There are tons of great pathways and trails within this one Toronto location. Sunnybrook Park is a 154-hectare chunk of landed that’s loaded with great stuff to explore. When you’re finished with your run, be sure to set up a nice picnic with friends on one of the many massive grassy areas.
